It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen the Atlanta skyline, it’s still a beautiful sight.
Head to Ponce City Market this week and, instead of making a dash for the food court or your favorite shop, check out Skyline Park on the roof.
You won’t want to come down, but there are plenty of other great things to do around metro Atlanta once you do.
Here are our top picks for things to do this week:
Josh Groban and Sarah McLachlan
Less than a year after his show at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Josh Groban will return to Atlanta for a show at Chastain Park Amphitheatre. Groban will be joined by singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan for a show that will offer great music in a relaxing environment.
If You Go: 7 p.m. July 17. $38-$152. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive, Atlanta. Chastainseries.com.
Pop singer Shawn Mendes will play Fox Theatre this month. Known for his breakout hit “Stitches,” the former Vine star has garnered quite the following amongst young music fans. Mendes recently released a new single, “Treat You Better,” the lead offering from his upcoming sophomore album.
If You Go: 7:30 p.m. July 17. $36.50. Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St., Atlanta.Foxtheatre.org.
There’s a new reason to visit Ponce City Market. When you get there, you’ll want to take the freight elevator to the roof.
From carnival-style games, priced at $1-$3, to a beer garden and a giant slide that sits behind the popular “Ponce City Market” sign, The Roof at Ponce City Market is perfect for any occasion. Throw a giant hammer over your shoulder and see if you have enough strength to ring the bell or test your hoop skills with a basketball game while on the roof.
Whether you’re looking for a lounge with a great view for a date, or hoping to have some fun with friends, you’ll likely find Skyline Park worth the $10 admission fee (for adults). Kids under 12 can visit the park for $7, and children ages 3 and under are admitted for free.
Celebrate the 15th anniversary of "Shrek" with other families during a screening of the film at the Fox Theatre on July 21. The movie, which is the first in a lineup for this year's Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival, begins at 7:30 p.m.
Purchase tickets for each screening, with the exception of "The Little Mermaid," in advance for $10 by visiting www.foxtheatre.org or calling 855-285-8499. Tickets are $12 on the day of the show.
