A 2 1/2 minute video shared by People shows the golden retriever rummaging through her owner's things across an unientified apartment.

The 9-month-old dog goes from chewing a stuffed toy to what looks like a textbook to a yoga mat.

By the time one of her owners comes home, she happily greets her with one of her dog toys in her mouth.

Like most videos on YouTube, it was met with criticism.

"This dog is clearly not trained properly," Cameron Hunter said.

"Golden retrievers are working dogs," one commenter said. "They need not only a lot of exercise, but a lot of mental stimulation too. It's very clear that the dog is merely bored senseless and it's trying to entertain itself."

Others were more constructive, offering advice to avoid the same thing happening again, like more toys and company.

One of the dog's parents responded to criticism on Reddit, saying that he appreciates the advice for his young family's first pet.

"We'll get her more toys and more physical activities, but it's really not that big of a deal for us if she rips apart a book or a yoga mat once in a while. It's all pleasures of having a puppy," he said.
