Singer Kesha drops sexual assault lawsuit against producer Dr. Luke

"Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label," Kesha's Attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, said in a statement to BuzzFeed News. "We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release the single and an album as soon as possible."

Petrocelli also said the Los Angeles case dismissal is part of an effort to focus on her New York lawsuits against Dr. Luke. That suit alleges she was drugged and raped.

The suit began in October 2014 and has continued into this year, in which Kesha, born Kesha Sebert, claimed she was sexually and physically assaulted and forced by her producer, Dr. Luke, born Lukaz Gottwald.

The ongoing legal battle led celebrities to chime in with the hashtag #FreeKesha.

The complaint was amended in June 2015 to say that Sebert's record label placed her and other female artists "in physical danger by giving Dr. Luke full creative and business control."

Dr. Luke has denied the sexual assault allegations in a series of tweets in February.

The Associated Press reported that Petrocelli said his client submitted 28 new songs to Kemosabe Music, Dr. Luke's record label, and Sony Music Entertainment.

"We have conveyed to Sony and the label Kesha's strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible," Petrocelli wrote in a statement.

Kesha responded on Twitter Monday.
