Regal Cinemas is putting customers' mouths where its money is this weekend, offering free hot dogs to folks who pony up to see its underdog, unlikely hit flick "Sausage Party."

From Friday through Sunday, moviegoers who buy a ticket to the CG animated feature voiced by the likes of Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig and Jonah Hill, will receive a voucher good for one hot dog. The offer is good for "standard hot dogs only," Regal says (guess that leaves out the talking kind). And the fine print from Regal says that "Only one voucher will print with each box office transaction that includes a ticket to Sausage Party, regardless of the total number of tickets purchased in the transaction."

Meanwhile the deal's only available at "select" Regal theaters. Translation: The ones that will still be showing "Sausage Party" this weekend. Around here, that appears to be limited to the Regal Atlantic Station 18 or the Regal Hollywood 24 at I-85 (check www.regmovies.com for movie times and information on all Regal locations).

“Sausage Party’s” title makes it sound much raunchier than it actually is. In fact, it’s a darkly funny, R-rated tale of a sausage (Rogen), bun (Wiig) and other foodstuffs at a local supermarket. At first they relish their existence (relish…get it?), but when they find out their bound to end up in customers’ tummies, they plot their escape.

Moviegoers have been eating it up: Released on Aug. 12, “Sausage Party” has already earned over $90 million at the box office
