Two years ago, McDonald’s introduced a buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich. It sold so well that the fast-food chain decided to take it to the next level and roll out a new dish for the kid in all of us.

Buttermilk crispy chicken tenders are now being tested at more than 130 McDonald's locations in Charlotte, N.C. — a fitting location, as Southerners loved their buttermilk-fried chicken. According to Business Insider, the tenders are "made with 100% white meat with no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, MSG, or antibiotics."

McDonald’s also plans to release a new signature dipping sauce for the tenders.

Business Insider reports that the original buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich and the chain’s all-day breakfast offerings, which launched around the same time, pulled McDonald’s from a years-long sales slump.

Since then, the fast-food giant has worked to make its menu healthier. It returned to using real butter and eggs in its breakfast items, and began offering lower calorie side options, such as apple slices or yogurt, for customers who don't want fries.
