A family-owned restaurant tops the fast food list in the American Customer Satisfaction Index Restaurant Report for 2016 was released Tuesday.

"The ACSI Restaurant Report 2016 examines the implications of new customer satisfaction benchmarks for major companies in the food services sector, including popular fast food, fast casual and full-service or sit-down dining chains that serve the U.S. consumer market," according to the ACSI website.

To compile its data, the ACSI uses interviews with about 70,000 customers each year and analyzes customer satisfaction with over 300 companies.

Customer satisfaction for both sit-down and fast-food eateries is measured by the accuracy of the food order, menu variety, food and drink quality, restaurant cleanliness, staff courtesy and helpfulness and order speed, among others.

At the top of the fast-food list is Chick-fil-A, which is well-known for is chicken sandwich.

Here is how the top 10 list shakes out for fast-food:

  1. Chick-fil-A
  2. Papa John's
  3. All Others (smaller fast-food chains grouped into one ranking)
  4. Little Caesars
  5. Panera Bread
  6. Arby's
  7. Dunkin' Donuts
  8. Chipotle Mexican Grill
  9. Domino's
  10. KFC

For sit-down restaurants, the top 10 are:

  1. Cracker Barrel
  2. LongHorn Steakhouse
  3. Texas Roadhouse
  4. All Others (
  5. Olive Garden
  6. Red Robin
  7. Applebee's
  8. Red Lobster
  9. Ruby Tuesday
  10. TGI Fridays
