BOOK SIGNING

Rick Springfield will sign copies of his second book, “Magnificent Vibration,” from 7-9 p.m. June 27. Barnes & Noble, 2900 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta. 404-261-7747.

Rick Springfield fans will get a double dose of their guy later this month.

Springfield will roll into town the night before his June 28 concert with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo at Chastain Park Amphitheatre for a book signing at the Barnes & Noble in Buckhead.

Always underrated as a songwriter and guitarist — there were more than 15 Top 40 hits after “Jessie’s Girl,” after all — Springfield returned to the New York Times Bestseller list last month with the release of his second book, “Magnificent Vibration.”

The fictional work started out, Springfield said in an interview last week, with him “just wanting to have a conversation with God.”

“I’ve been writing all my life. The only decent attention I ever got at school was for my essays. I always wanted to get back to it. I wrote my own autobiography (2010’s ‘Late, Late at Night,’ also a NYT Bestseller) and that showed me I could finish a book that people liked.”

Springfield received an early rave review from author Mitch Albom, who provided a blurb for the book jacket, and has also received positive notice from Kirkus and Booklist.

“I got better reviews (for my book) than my music!” he joked.
