Report: Rihanna, Chris Brown are recording song together
If you've been wondering why Rihanna did not request a "no contact" order on Chris Brown after he was charged with assaulting her, E! News may have the answer.
Look below for other news about this story, including details of the alleged assault.
E! Entertainment Television is reporting on its website www.eonline.com that the couple has been recording a song together:
"The seemingly reconciled duo have been working on a duet that Brown is hoping to include on his new album, due out later this year, a studio source tells E! News. 'They've been working on it together,' the insider says."
The E! News story also says that award-winning record producer Polow Da Don, who has worked with Brown in the past, has been "holed up with them at a Santa Monica recording studio for the past several days."
The story, posted online March 10, says Polow has collaborated with Will Smith, Fergie, Ciara, Usher and Ludacris. It went on to say that representatives for Brown and Rihanna had not responded to E! News' requests for comment.
The story quotes producer Adonis Shropshire explaining why 21-year-old Rihanna was working on her music again.
" 'You have to remember, she's a kid still,' he is quoted saying. 'So with anybody who goes through something in the world, you have to bring yourself out of it...I guess her refuge is her music.' "
Rihanna canceled a few performances in Asia in the week following Brown's Feb. 8 arrest for allegedly attacking her.
In other news, Brown has decided to withdraw his name from the ballot for the Kids' Choice Awards.
He had been nominated for favorite male singer and favorite song for "Kiss Kiss" at the March 28 awards show on Nickelodeon. The nominations came shortly before his arrest.
A petition had been circulated to take his name off the ballot, but Nickelodeon said on Tuesday he would remain on it. But with the backlash against him still strong, on Wednesday, Brown decided to take his name out of consideration.
"Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song," read the statement.
"Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated. While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so."
On Wednesday, the network said in a statement that it agrees with and respects his decision to bow out.
