Miley Cyrus was full of surprises Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards, but this one isn't as controversial as many of her others, such as her wardrobe.
Cyrus announced a new album as the music awards show wrapped up.

"Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz" was not only a surprise for fans, it was made without any money from RCA Records, Billboard reported.
She apparently had approval from her label.
It cost about $50,000 to produce and won't count as one of the albums specified in her contract.
As the VMA show at the Microsoft Theater ended, Cyrus said "It's online for free right now" as the site hosting the album flashed onscreen.
