Meat Loaf reveals painful ailment during British radio appearance

After recent public appearances started rumors about Meat Loaf’s health, the popular rock musician set the record straight during a BBC radio appearance this week.

In a BBC Radio 5 Live appearance, Meat Loaf, 68, said that he is suffering from a pinched nerve, which is causing him a lot of pain. The singer said he can't stand for longer than 5 minutes at a time, according to The Mirror. He described the pain when walking as "Norman Bates from 'Psycho' stabbing me in the back." Meat Loaf was spotted in public using a walking cane.

In addition, Meat Loaf said in the BBC interview that he has a swollen tongue, which is distorting his speech. He admitted it makes him sound “drunk” but he assured fans that he not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In June, Meat Loaf gave fans a scare when he collapsed during a concert in Canada. A news release shortly after the incident said that Meat Loaf was suffering from severe dehydration.
