Prince was known not only for the music that he wrote, but also the songs he performed.

But he didn't keep all of his songwriting talent to himself. Often he wrote songs for other performers that turned into mega-hits.

Here are some of the famous songs, performed by other bands and singers, that Prince wrote, as compiled by E!.

"Manic Monday"

Prince wrote the song "Manic Monday," but it was the tune that helped make The Bangles a household name in the mid 1980s. It appeared on the album "Different Light." He wrote it under the name Christopher, E! reported.

"Nothing Compares 2 U"

Sinead O'Connor's most famous song, "Nothing Compares 2 U," was also penned by Prince in 1990. It appeared on the album "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got." It won five awards including Billboard Music Award for Number 1 World Single and MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year in 1990.

"Stand Back"

Stevie Nicks had some powerful help when she broke away from Fleetwood Mac and embarked on her solo career in 1983. Prince teamed up with Nicks to co-write "Stand Back."

"The Glamorous Life"

Prince and Shelia E. co-wrote "The Glamorous Life," the song that made the female drummer a household name in the '80s, Rolling Stone reported.

"Pray"

MC Hammer was blessed with a Prince song for his follow-up single after "Can't Touch This." Prince gave him "Pray" for his second single.

"With This Tear"

Even mega-star Celine Dion benefited from Prince's song writing. He wrote "With This Tear" in 1992 as a gift to the songstress, People magazine reported.
