It’s not a bad idea to fit a trip to the movie theaters into your weekend plans this week.

From Disney’s new critically-praised animation “Zootopia” to the action-packed “London Has Fallen,” there is something in theatres for everyone this weekend.

Here are a few movies that are opening in Atlanta-area theaters this weekend. Find out which movies are playing in theaters near you with the AJC's movie listings.

"Zootopia"

Disney’s latest animated film features voiceovers from Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin and Idris Elba. It follows Judy Hopps (Goodwin) as she becomes the first rabbit to join the police force and learns to navigate her new career despite the prejudice she faces.

"The Other Side of the Door"

A mother’s attempt to bring her son back to life following a tragic accident goes horribly wrong in this scary film.

"Whiskey Tango Foxtrot"

In this comedy, Tina Fey plays a cable news producer who takes an assignment in Afghanistan.

"The Wave"

Geiranger, a Norwegian tourist town, faces a catastrophic natural disaster in this action-packed drama.

"London Has Fallen"

In London for the funeral of the British prime minister, several of the world’s most powerful leaders, including the U.S. president, are in danger as a result of a terrorist attack.

If none of these movies sound appealing, consider seeing one of the films that were released last week.
