With more than 300 fan sites, "Twilight's" upcoming midnight DVD release is sure to draw a lot of night owls — not to mention blood at one event.

On Friday night, several book and video stores will hold parties to celebrate the release of the popular vampire romance film on DVD and Blu-ray. Copies of the film go on sale at 12:01 a.m Saturday.

At the Blockbuster store in Brookhaven (3944 Peachtree Road), the party will kick off at 10 p.m. with trivia, a scavenger hunt and a blood drive by LifeSouth Community Blood Centers.

As part of its "give a pint, get a pint" event, Blockbuster will give the first 50 people to donate blood a free pint of Edy's or Haagen Dazs ice cream.

In addition to Blockbuster, several other metro area stores, including Borders and WalMart, will host release parties. For information on specific locations, go to www.twilightthemovie.com.

"Twilight" was a big success at the box office, raking in almost $70 million in its debut weekend, and not one but two sequels are in the works. The film, which stars Robert Pattinson as vampire heartthrob Edward and Kristen Stewart at his beloved human Bella, is based on the hugely popular teen book series by the same name, written by Stephenie Meyer.
