Out on Film, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender film festival, will have notable Atlanta tie-ins and something of a Southern accent during its 24th edition which runs Sept. 29-Oct. 6. Highlights of the just-announced 50-plus film lineup include:

  • "Cho Dependent," sometime-Atlantan Margaret Cho's concert film, taped at the Tabernacle last December. The salty comic takes aim at Sarah Palin, "Dancing With the Stars," sexting and much more.
  • "The Green," a tale of homophobia in an idyllic Connecticut shoreline community, starring Cheyenne Jackson, Julia Ormond and Ileana Douglas.
  • "eCupid," in which a waitress (Morgan Fairchild) comes to the rescue of an advertising executive whose gets more options than he bargained for when he downloads a mysterious app promising romance.
  • "From Hollywood to Dollywood," a documentary about twin brothers who, frustrated in their inability to get a script they've written for their idol Dolly Parton to her, take off on a cross-country odyssey in an RV they dub Jolene to personally deliver it.
  • "Wish Me Away," a documentary about country singer Chely Wright's decision to come out as a lesbian.

  • "Man 2 Man: A Gay Man's Guide to Finding Love," world premiere of former Atlantan Christopher Hines' documentary on finding and keeping Mr. Right.
  • "Morgan," world premiere of Michael Akers' drama about a young gay man who struggles to accept his new life as a paraplegic and then finds true love.
  • "Through the Eyes of the AIDS Storm: Jesse Peel," a documentary look at the Atlanta activist.
  • Opening night double feature of "The Sleeping Beauty of East Finchley," a short drama in which joining a women's choir helps bring the sleeping beauty of the title out of her shell, and "Going Down in La-La Land," about an actor trying to make it in Hollywood finding the underside.

Screenings will be held at Landmark’s Midtown Art Cinema and Ansley Park Playhouse. Festival passes, $115, go on sale Aug. 23 via www.outonfilm.org. More details: 404-671-9446.
