FRIDAY
Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden
Last fall, Nine Inch Nails stormed into Philips Arena with an astounding light show, frantic electronica, old-fashioned drum pounding, serrated guitar and snippets of the mechanical clanging that helped popularize industrial rock. They're bringing more of their muscular sound to the stage this summer, which marks the first time NIN and Soundgarden are touring together. They're doing so for a good reason: Soundgarden is supporting the 20th anniversary reissue of its landmark 1994 album "Superunknown."
With the Dillinger Escape Plan. 7 p.m. Aug. 8. $29.50-$99.50. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, livenation.com.
SATURDAY
Kiss 104.1 Flashback Festival
Prepare to get funky, because Bootsy Collins is coming to town. The venerable bassist is part of this festival, which promises an old-school musical party. Joining Collins in the throwback lineup are War, Con Funk Shun, the Bar-Kays and Cherrelle. Tom Joyner and his morning show crew are also expected to appear.
6 p.m. Aug. 9. $25-$70. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, livenation.com.
Rodrigo y Gabriela
The Mexican duo of Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero has spent 14 years refining the definition of acoustic guitars. By using influences from flamenco, rock and heavy metal, they continually present an astoundingly eclectic sound — particularly live, where they thrive. Their most commercial work has been heard on soundtracks for “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “Puss in Boots” (the “Shrek” sequel). But Rodrigo y Gabriela also have released four studio albums, including this year’s “9 Dead Alive.”
With Quiet Hounds. 8 p.m. Aug. 9. $29.50-$39.50. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive N.W., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
TUESDAY
David Gray
Still best known in the U.S. for his velvety 2000 hit "Babylon," Gray's brand of intelligent folk-pop remains a potent brew. The Englishman recently released his 10th studio album, "Mutineers," featuring the song "Beautiful Agony." It's his first release in four years, and was recorded at the Church Studios in London. Gray's American summer tour will stretch into October.
8 p.m. Aug. 12. $31.50-$55.50. This is a nontable setup show; no coolers or carry-ins allowed. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive N.W., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
WEDNESDAY
T-Pain
He might be Florida-born, but T-Pain is as much an Atlanta rap institution as Lil Jon, T.I. and B.o.B. The Grammy Award-winner has loaned his distinctive drawl to more than 50 hits. Perhaps you recall hearing him on “Kiss Kiss” with Chris Brown, “Good Life” with Kanye West, “Got Money” with Lil Wayne or, likely, his most mainstream spotlight, “Low,” with Flo Rida.
With Snootie Wild, Bando Jonez, Rich Kidz and Mykell Vaughn. 7 p.m. Aug. 13. $25. Masquerade, 695 North Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
THURSDAY
Brad Paisley
Country superstar, underrated guitarist, amusing award-show host — Paisley fits myriad categories these days. Oh, and add nice guy to the list as well. Earlier this week, Paisley hit social media to unveil a song from his upcoming album, “Moonshine in the Trunk,” and dedicated it to Dr. Kent Brantly, who is battling the Ebola virus at Emory University Hospital. The song, “Me and Jesus,” is a bonus track on the new album, due Aug. 25.
With Randy Houser, Leah Turner and Charlie Worsham. 7 p.m. Aug. 14. $27.25-$60.50. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, livenation.com.
