Former Prince protege, Vanity, dead at 57

TMZ announced Monday evening that Vanity, whose real name was Denise Katrina Matthews, passed away after battling kidney problems.

Matthews who was the lead singer of the 80's girl pop group, Vanity 6, passed away in Fremont, California according to sources close to her family.

Fox6now reported that the singer set up a GoFundMe page a few months ago and said she had been diagnosed with sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis.

Her biggest hit was "Nasty Girl" which was produced by Prince in 1982.
