Cape Dutch open in Woodfire space
Restaurateur Justin Anthony, who brought South African cuisine to Buckhead with 10 Degrees South and Yebo, and soon will debut Biltong Bar at Ponce City Market, has opened Cape Dutch in the former Woodfire Grill space on Cheshire Bridge Road. Executive chef-partner Philippe Haddad is in the kitchen with a "global menu highlighting South African influences," including braai-style steak and seafood dishes. Porch Light Latin open in Smyrna
Andre Gomez, the former chef de cuisine at Kevin Rathbun Steak, opened his first restaurant, Porch Light Latin Kitchen, in Smyrna Nov. 17. The menu reflects Gomez's Puerto Rican and Argentinian roots, with some chefy touches. Look for the likes of conch fritters with poblano remoulade and chayote saw, smashed yucca mofongo with duck confit and local mushroom broth, and fire-roasted, hand-cut spinales with abuelas chimichurri. Lusca closing in south Buckhead
Chefs Angus Brown and Nhan Le are closing Lusca and turning it into a catering facility, while planning to open a new, more casual restaurant called Ama in the Paris on Ponce market space near the Beltline. Brown and Le, of Octopus Bar, the East Atlanta after-hours eats-and-drinks hangout, opened Lusca in south Buckhead in April 2014. Richards’ Southern Fried coming in 2016
Brewed to Serve Restaurant Group and chef Todd Richards of White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails have announced the formation of Southern Food Traditions, “a company dedicated to the creation of concepts and products that represent the cultural milieu of the South.” The first project is Richards’ Southern Fried, a quick-service concept scheduled to open in early 2016 at Krog Street Market.
