Bone Garden Cantina

A giant mariachi skeleton figure with a guitar marks the spot at this fun new westside Mexican restaurant and bar. Inside, the colorful Day of the Dead theme continues on a huge canvas of skeleton performers that hangs above the bar and several more sculptures and paintings. The sprawling a la carte menu includes reasonably priced tacos, enchiladas, sopes, tamales, burritos and quesadillas, making it easy to create a meal to suit your own tastes. Menu items, $2-$7. Day of the Dead party and specials on Nov. 1.

ALPHARETTA

Pure Taqueria

Alpharetta's bustling Pure Taqueria is a testament to Chris and Michele Sedgwick's love of all things Mexican. The menu ranges from salsas and chips, queso fundido, ceviche and crab fritters to taco plates and entrees. Among the more unusual, not-so-Mexican offerings, find the Hamburguesa Sedgwick, loaded with with avocado, pickled jalapeno, poblano peppers, onions, queso Chihuahua and bacon. Menu items, $7-$14.99.

EAST ATLANTA VILLAGE

Holy Taco

This East Atlanta Village restaurant and bar features a decidedly laid-back vibe that's a good fit for the neighborhood. The a la carte taqueria-style lunch and dinner menu is centered on tacos, quesadillas and tortas (Mexican sandwiches). Choices include beef brisket, poached chicken, fried fish and grilled shrimp. A chile relleno, fried-up in a delicately crispy coating, oozes a milky cheese filling, surrounded by a tasty tomato coulis. Menu items, $3-$10. Day of the Dead party on Nov. 2.

CHESHIRE BRIDGE

Taqueria Del Sol

The bright remake of Taqueria Del Sol in the original Sundown location ties it to the high-energy vibe of its sister locations. Among the taco favorites: crispy-fried fish tacos with poblano tartar sauce, and savory pork carnitas with salsa frita, cilantro and onions. Daily specials, including the likes of mango tilapia, super-fresh salsas, chunky guacamole and warm chips, with a beer or a tart, frosty margarita, are the way to get started. Menu items, $2.19-$10.99.
