The AP style manual lists "child prostitute" and "child prostitution" as acceptable use for journalists. The manual is a guide journalists worldwide follow to help them adhere to a codified manner of writing and editing.

Pettigrew says she was sexually exploited between the ages of 10 and 17.

"I was not a child prostitute or child sex worker. I was a victim and survivor of child rape. And so are the other kids out there now who are being bought and sold for sex. They are victims and survivors of child rape."
