Like the TV series, the big-screen "Sex and the City" is all about sharing, caring and shoes. "Sex" (opening May 30) continues the adventures of best buds Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). Here are a few other films involving determined gal pals:

1. "The Women" (1939) — What a cast: Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard, Joan Fontaine, Lucille Watson, Marjorie Main and Ruth Hussey ... for starters.

2. "Waiting to Exhale" (1995) — Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston, Loretta Devine and Lela Rochon talk about men, love, men, feminine needs and men.

3. "Westward the Women" (1951) — They may not all be friends, but they bond in this Western about 138 women in a wagon train headed to meet promised husbands.

4. "Friends With Money" (2006) — Catherine Keener, Joan Cusack and Frances McDormand are the married friends. Jennifer Aniston is their unattached (at least for a while) pal.

5. "Bonneville" (2006) — Take one vintage convertible and fill it with Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Joan Allen. Then send them on a life-altering road trip.
