Seth Meyers shared the story of his second son's birth on his late-night show Monday, and revealed that his son didn't wait for anyone and was born in an apartment lobby.
People reported that Meyers, 44, welcomed his second child Axel Strahl with wife Alexi Ashe on April 8. He was on his show, "Late Night with Seth Meyers," the next day to tell the story.
Meyers and Ashe’s first child, 2-year-old Ashe Olsen, was almost born in an Uber, but made it to a hospital in time.
“Well, move over, that story,” Meyers said.
Ashe, her mother, Meyers and Ashe’s doula headed down to the lobby, and an Uber was outside.
“We’re in the lobby and we’re walking down the steps, and my wife just says, ‘I can’t get in that car. I’m going to have the baby right now. The baby is coming,’” Meyers said.
The group ended up going back into the lobby so Ashe could finish delivering Axel, who already crowned.
“I called 911, and over the course of a minute conversation, I said, ‘We’re about to have a baby — we’re having a baby — we had a baby,’” Meyers said.
Meyers thanked the New York Fire Department, their apartment doorman and their apartment neighbors for being understanding of the situation.
