This Spring’s slate of outdoor festivals in metro Atlanta:

May 2:Spring Splatters: A Celebration of Arts in Alpharetta, at Crabapple Government Center, 12624 Broadwell Road, Alpharetta. Artist demos, interactive arts and crafts projects, children’s activities and refreshments.

May 2:Taste of East Cobb, at Merchants Walk, 1289 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta. Food from area restaurants, live music, silent auction, “Best Taste of East Cobb” voting contest, face painting, sand art, beverage & dessert booths, fine arts & crafts.

May 2-3:Cotton Pickin’ Fair, at Cotton Pickin’ Fair, 18830 Ga. 85, Gay. With skilled artisans and antique specialists, the fair shares remnants of farm life in days gone by.

* May 3:Fiesta Atlanta — Cinco de Mayo Celebration, at Centennial Olympic Park, 265 Centennial Olympic Park Drive N.W., Atlanta. Family festival celebrates Latino culture. Continuous live performances on two stages, vendor booths offering free product samples, arts and crafts and authentic Latino foods.

May 3:Serenbe MayDay Celebration, at Serenbe, 9110 Selborne Lane, Palmetto. Live music, food and drink, art, shopping, green vendors and kids activities.

* May 8-10:Sweet Auburn Springfest, at Auburn Avenue Neighborhood, Auburn Avenue and Courtland Street, Atlanta. The 25th anniversary of one of the largest multicultural festivals in the Southeast, featuring food, film, art and music.

May 9:“Age is Beauty” Festival, at Greenbriar Mall, 2841 Greenbriar Parkway S.W., Atlanta. Belly Dance lessons, make overs, photo shoot and 8x10 photo’s for ladies ages 60 and older.

May 9:Ole Stockbridge Days Festival, at Stockbridge Elementary, 4617 N. Henry Blvd., Stockbridge. Activities include arts and crafts, food vendors and a children’s area with rides, inflatables and climbing wall.

May 9-10:20th Annual Indian Festival and Pow Wow, at Boling Park, 1162 Marietta Highway, Canton. American Indian dance competition, warriors on horseback, buffalo show, primitive skills demonstrations, living tipi village, reptile show and arts and crafts vendors.

May 14:Taste of Alpharetta, at Old Milton Parkway at Wills Park, Alpharetta. Sample appetizers, entrees and desserts from more than 70 restaurants. Kids zone, chef’s competition, cooking demonstrations and exhibits.

May 15-17:Canton Festival of the Arts, at Downtown Canton, 151 Elizabeth St. Juried show of fine arts. Also, food, entertainment, Serenity Garden and an author’s fair.

May 23:Annual Pig-Out, at Sautee Nacoochee Center, 283 Ga. 255 N., Sautee Nacoochee. Sautee Nacoochee volunteer firefighters celebrate the 20th anniversary of the festival with pork, chicken, Brunswick stew, firehouse beans and slaw.

May 30-31:Spring Arts & Crafts Festival, at Blairsville Town Square. Juried artists and craftsmen exhibits. Also, student art exhibit, live music and dance performances.

June 6:Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival, at Downtown Douglasville, Old Courthouse, 6840 W. Church St. Garden tours, the Main Street market, flower show, food and entertainment.

June 13:Crepe Myrtle Festival, at Hammond Park, 705 Hammond Drive, Sandy Springs. Entertainment, children’s activities, food, arts and crafts, and a car show.

June 19-20:Roswell Magnolia Storytelling Festival, at Bulloch Hall, 180 Bulloch Ave., Roswell. Tall tales, short stories, real-life incidents and stories of imagination and fantasy told by storytellers, interpreters and musicians from Georgia and throughout the Southeast.

June 27:Summerfest on the Green, at On the Green (Morrow Festival Park), 5917 Reynolds Road, Morrow. Games and activities for children, a climbing wall, hot air balloon rides and fireworks.
