Falcons punter Matt Bosher suffered a chest injury while covering a punt in the first quarter against Cleveland on Thursday.

The Falcons were already playing without kicker Matt Bryant, who had some tightness in his leg. With Bosher and Bryant down, all of the punting and kicking duty would fall on the foot of rookie Nick Rose, who missed a 48-yarder in the second quarter.

Bosher, one of the better tacklers as the punt team’s safety, went down on the field. Medical staff checked him out on the sideline.

With the diagnosis as a “chest” injury, he would not have to go into the league’s concussion protocol.
