The Roots, Erykah Badu and Bilal kicked off the first of many Prince tributes at the BET Awards Sunday.
Beyoncé opened the show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with a surprise performance with Kendrick Lamar of her song "Freedom." The duo danced in a pool of water to the song's heavy beat. At one point, Lamar and Beyoncé kicked the water and danced in sync, drawing a heavy applause from the audience.
