FIVE THINGS to know about the Braves season
1. Take MARTA. Unless you have purchased parking in advance, take MARTA. The Braves shuttle picks up (and returns) fans near the Five Points Station.
2. Arrive early. The gates open at 4 p.m., and the celebration of Hank Aaron's 1974 home run milestone begins at 6 p.m. If you go: What fans need to know.
3. Smart tickets are here: When the Braves open their home season Tuesday night, many fans will enter Turner Field by scanning their smartphone, rather than a paper ticket, at the gate. And there's an app: At the Ballpark app has a check-in offer. What else is new at Turner Field? Sports writer Tim Tucker has a good list to help you plan.
4. The weather: Use our hour-by-hour forecast to decide if you'll need a sweater or jacket after the game.
5. Hank Aaron facts: If you don't know or don't recall, Hammerin' Hank became baseball's new home run leader in 1974, 40 years ago this month, when he hit his 715th career home run, passing the record of 714 by Babe Ruth. The home run was hit in Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, the original Braves stadium that stood next door to the current Turner Field. Learn more about Hank Aaron, including historic photos.

Hungry? Atlanta restaurant resources
Inside the stadium, and new for 2014, Sweetwater Brewing takes over the beer island in the center of the fan plaza. Rita's Italian Ice will have four stands on the concourses. Before the game, try one of these restaurants near Turner Field from Access Atlanta's restaurant directory.
