Outdoor movie series are a great indication that summer is near.
This week, Atlantic Station will kick off its Movies in Central Park series, providing metro Atlanta residents of all ages with a free, entertaining weekday treat.

“Pete the Cat” at Center for Puppetry Arts
The Center for Puppetry Arts’ production of “Pete the Cat,” based on the series created by illustrator James Dean, has a few more shows left this month.
Atlanta native Eric Litwin wrote the original book in the series, “Pete the Cat: I Love my White Shoes.”

Ribbit the Exhibit’
North Carolina artist Andy Cobb is behind the current “Ribbit the Exhibit” at the garden’s Gainesville location. Twenty-three anthropomorphic frogs are featured in this exhibit.

“Freedom Over Me”
Alliance Theatre professionals will lead a group of teenagers in a reimagining of Ashley Bryan’s “Freedom Over Me” children’s book at the Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum. According to the website, the reading will “highlight the stark contrast between the monetary value placed on a slave’s life and the priceless value of life experiences and dreams.”

“Finding Neverland”
Marietta native Billie Harrigan Tighe stars in this musical about writer J.M. Barrie and his relationship with the family that inspired “Peter Pan.”

Movies in Central Park
Atantic Station’s free outdoor movie series returns this week in Central Park. Watch the 1990 film “Tremors” with family and friends on the lawn.
Popcorn and Cotton Candy vendors will be on site selling snacks to hungry moviegoers.
