Emmy and Golden Globe winner, Pat Harrington Jr. has died at the age of 86.

Harrington passed away on Wednesday night in a Los Angeles hospital surrounded by family and friends. He had been suffering from Alzheimer’s and was hospitalized recently following a fall.

He played the cocky superintendent Dwayne Schneider on the CBS sitcom, “One Day at a Time.” In 2012, he made his final television appearance as the apartment manager on Valarie Bertinelli’s sitcom, “Hot in Cleveland.”

Harrington won a Golden Globe in 1981 and an Emmy Award in 1984 for his role on “One Day at a Time.”
