A3C Festival & Conference: 5 things to do this week in Atlanta

October started on a high note in metro Atlanta.

Following the Many Rivers to Cross festival, the A3C Festival and Conference is sure to keep Atlanta residents in the music industry, as well as local hip-hop fans entertained. If that's not your cup of tea, this week is your last chance to catch Ugly Lies the Bone at the Alliance Theatre, as well as to attend the Out on Film festival.

Here are our five suggestions for thing to do this week around metro Atlanta:

A3C

21 Savage, Rick Ross, Young Dolph, Too $hort, OG Maco and other artists are expected to perform during this year's A3C Festival and Conference in the Old Fourth Ward. The highlight of the festival will likely be D4L's tribute to rapper Shawty Lo less than one week after the Bankhead rapper's funeral.

In addition to performances, A3C will feature panels and workshops featuring more than 250 speakers, including Organized Noise, Master P and more.

Tickets vary in price based on what you're interested in attending, but they can be purchased here.

Out on Film

Atlanta’s oldest LGBT film festival will once again offer eight days of screenings. About 100 feature films, documentaries and short films will play at the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema Sept. 29-Oct. 6. Festival pass are $160. You can also see three films for $30 or pay $11 for individual screenings. Tickets will go on sale Sept. 1.

Visit the Museum of Design Atlanta with your kids and sign them up to become members of the Design Club. The program gives kids who are 17 years old or younger, and an accompanying adult free, unlimited membership to the museum. 

The Museum of Design Atlanta has housed exhibits on design, graphics and fashion for more than 25 years.

“Ugly Lies the Bone” 

An injured young veteran returns home to face her new reality with the help of a new virtual reality therapy in “Ugly Lies the Bone.” The production, created by playwright Lindsey Ferrentino, opened at the Alliance Theatre on Sept. 16.

Lianne La Havas

British singer Lianne La Havas will bring her moody R&B offerings to Atlanta for a show at the Buckhead Theatre on Oct. 6. Havas released her last album, “Blood,” in 2015.
