You think your rent is high? (…compare it to Poncey-Highlands)

The median rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Atlanta is $1,660, according to according to a monthly report released today by Apartment List, a San Francisco-based company that describes itself as an "apartment rental marketplace."

But within the city, there is wide variation.

At the top is Poncey-Highland, in the southeast corner of the city, with a median, two-bedroom rent of $2,620 a month.

The least expensive areas to rent are West End and Mechanicsville, where the median monthly rent is just $980.

In contrast, the median rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Savannah is $1,000, in Athens it’s $800, in Macon, $750, and in Valdosta, a very reasonable sounding $580 a month.
