If you're looking for a city to launch your digital business, consider Atlanta, which is among the U.S. cities best equipped to become a major startup hub according to a recent Innovations That Matters report.

The organization, which explores opportunities and challenges entrepreneurs across the nation face, ranked 25 American cities based on six criteria: talent, capital, industry specialization, density, connectivity and culture.

Atlanta came in right at No. 21 in rankings that "evaluate which cities are best positioned to lead the digital economy."

The data determined that the city's key strengths were "engaged universities, investors and civic institutions." But while it recognized the region's blossoming digital economy, it also highlighted growth opportunities. Researchers suggested entrepreneurs should tap into Atlanta's construction, transportation and logistics industries to become "a leader in both energy and smart cities."
