California-based Marketo, which officially opened its East Coast hub in Buckhead this week, blogged about lessons it learned in the hunt for a new location.
The provider of marketing software now has about 40 employees locally, including engineering and sales people. But the company is predicting it will grow to 200 jobs in Buckhead over the next two years.
Here’s what it said helps to know about staking out a new spot:
— “Look for a location that is welcoming to your industry — ideally, without being over-saturated.” The company cited Atlanta’s rich airport connections to the world and “a thriving tech scene.”
— “Meet your Customers (and prospects) halfway.” Marketo pointed out that big brands including Coke, Home Depot and UPS are in Atlanta.— Bring talented employees with you. The company transferred more than a dozen existing employees to Atlanta.
