Sandy Springs-based shipping giant UPS and its pilots union announced they will seek mediation by the National Mediation Board for their labor contract negotiations.

The company and the Independent Pilots Association said in a joint statement that over two and a half years of negotiations, they have yet to reach agreement on pay, pension and other benefits, scope and scheduling.

“The parties remain committed to bargaining in good faith,” they said. The National Mediation Board has mediated every contract negotiation between UPS and its pilots union.

Separately, UPS has also been negotiating with the Teamsters union on several local agreements. The Teamsters have already ratified a national master contract and freight contract. The union and the company agreed to extend their current contract indefinitely until the local agreements are finalized.
