UPS expanded its board of directors to 12, adding a biopharmaceutical expert.

Candace Kendle, the co-founder and former chairwoman and CEO of global clinical research firm Kendle International, is the latest addition to the board. The Cincinnati company was acquired by INC Research LLC for $232 million last month.

Sandy Springs-based UPS added Kendle to the board as it adds healthcare logistics facilities across the country. The company said it is making healthcare logistics one of its most important strategic priorities.

Kendle will serve on the board's audit committee, and will stand for election to a regular one-year term at UPS' shareholders' meeting in May.
