Robert Marcus, the newly named chairman and chief executive officer of Time Warner Cable Inc., will join the board of directors at Atlanta-based Equifax Inc.

Equifax, a credit reporting company, said Robert Marcus will begin serving as a director on Nov. 1. He is currently president and chief operating officer at TWC, but will take over as chairman and CEO in January.

Equifax Chairman Richard Smith said in a statement that his company will benefit from Marcus’ experience in operations, strategy, acquisitions and working in a regulated environment.

“His oversight of marketing, customer care, technology, commercial and media services will be valuable to Equifax as we develop and market new technology-based products and services for consumers and businesses.”

Marcus, who joined Time Warner Inc. in 1998 and TWC in 2005, was named TWC president in 2010 and chairman this past July. He also once headed the company’s mergers and acquisitions operations.

TWC has more than 14 million customers in 29 states.
