Tami Barron, a longtime Southern Co. executive, has been named president of the utility company’s SouthernLINC Wireless network.

Barron succeeds Don Horsley, who will remain chairman of the wireless carrier until his retirement later this spring, Mark Lantrip, Southern Company Services president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Barron first joined Southern Co. in 1984, working first at Georgia Power and then at Mississippi Power. Most recently the 53-year-old executive served as vice president of Southern’s supply chain management organization.

She is a graduate of the University of Georgia, Columbus College and Emory University’s Goizueta Business School’s Executive Program.
