W.  Scott Sorrels, a former attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is joining Sutherland Asbill & Brennan as a partner, the Atlanta law firm said. Sorrels, who had been with Bryan Cave, brings more than a quarter century of securities, banking regulation and and enforcement experience to the firm. Separately, the firm announced that Avital Stadler, who had worked at Sutherland from 2002 to 2007 and left for rival McKenna Long & Aldridge is coming back. Stadler will be in Sutherland's securities enforcement and litigation practice group. Both will be based in Atlanta.
