Suniva Inc., which makes silicon cells and modules for the solar energy industry, said Wednesday it has added a third production line.

The Norcross-based company will expand capacity to handle 170 megawatts of power, up from the current 96 megawatts.

“Demand for our high-efficiency, low-cost solar cells and modules continues to increase rapidly,” said John Baumstark, chairman and CEO of Suniva.

Suniva’s cells are sold out for 2010.
