Dr. Sullivan to receive Georgia Bio award

Dr. Louis Sullivan, former U.S. Secretary of health and human services, will receive the 2010 Georgia Bio Industry Growth Award at the nonprofit association’s annual award ceremony January 21.

John Richard, managing director of Georgia Venture Partners, will also receive the group’s award given for “extraordinary contributions to the growth of Georgia’s life sciences industry,” according to a press release.

Georgia Sen. David Adelman (D-Decatur) and Rep. Amos Amerson (R-Dahlonega) have also been named Georgia’ Bio’s 2010 legislators of the year.

Georgia Bio represents the state’s life-sciences industry and counts 300 pharmaceutical, biotech and medical-device companies, universities and medical centers as members.
