Kevin Hagler, an employee of the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, has been named its new commissioner.

Hagler replaces Robert Braswell, who retired last month to become CEO of the state’s Community Bankers Association.

Hagler has been a deputy commissioner for supervision at the department since 2008, and has worked there since 1997. Most recently, he has been responsible for oversight of state chartered banks, credit union and trust companies.

A Duluth resident, Hagler has also worked at SunTrust in Atlanta and Altus Bank in Alabama. He is a graduate of Auburn University.
