Spirit Airlines announced it will begin flying from Atlanta to Austin on May 23, adding to its flights from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

The ultra low-cost carrier announced the new route as it launched its first flights from Austin on Thursday to eight other cities.

Miramar, Fla-based Spirit as a discount carrier charges fees for large carry-ons and checked bags and also charges for soft drinks and any other beverages or snacks on board.
