Solusia Air, a company based in Atlanta, has gained federal approval to use drones to inspect cell phone towers.

The company, an affiliate of Solusia Services LLC, said the technology will give wireless and utility companies “a more efficient, safer method” to inspect infrastructure, according to a written statement from Solusia Air CEO Chris Moccia.

The Federal Aviation Administration granted an exemption to Solusia Air to operate unmanned aircraft for telecommunications and utility structure inspection, construction and maintenance services.
