“Shipping container”-style Chick-fil-A store coming to Skyview Atlanta

Workers prepare sandwiches to be given away at Chick-fil-A’s first location in New York, Sept. 23, 2015. At a time when many fast-food restaurants are struggling, privately-held Chick-fil-A expects to post double-digit growth this year, but the chain remains unfamiliar to most New Yorkers — even some of those hired for this Manhattan location. Operators of Skyview Atlanta say they plan to add a walk-up Chick-fil-A store to the downtown attraction next year.
The store will be boxed design that will include a walk-up window, but won’t have any seating, Skyview managing partner Todd Schneider told the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau on Wednesday.
The location, which will be constructed under the Ferris wheel and face Luckie Street, will open in the spring.
“This Chick-fil-A is going to be the first of its kind,” Schneider said. “It’s going to be made out of a shipping container.”
Schneider said the store will be a test model for Chick-fil-A that, if successful, the Atlanta-based fast-food chain may develop elsewhere.
