RedPrairie, an Alpharetta logistics company that in November announced a merger with JDA Software, is laying off employees.

In an emailed statement, JDA spokesman Stephen Phillips said he could not release specific job-loss numbers. But he said JDA will continue to employ more than 4,500 people around the world, and the layoffs related to the merger affect fewer than 10 percent of total employees.

“The Atlanta area has one of our largest concentrations of associates in the U.S., and will remain so going forward,” he said.

Phillips said the layoffs were the result of redundancies, and the job losses came from both companies.

The two businesses merged in a $1.9 billion deal. At the time of the merger, the companies said they did not compete, and their combined operations would offer solutions for managing global supply chains.
