Post Properties is well known for its apartments near major jobs centers around metro Atlanta.

On Monday, the company broke ground on its biggest Atlanta area bet — a $96 million mid-rise residential development in downtown. Post CEO David Stockert said Post Centennial Park is a reflection of downtown's "upswing."

The project at Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Simpson Street will rise near its namesake park and major attractions such as the Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Georgia Aquarium.

Though other neighborhoods like Midtown and Buckhead have gotten more attention from apartment developers, the Post project is among a slate of residential developments targeting the city’s core.
