Another day, another retail chain announcing closures. This time, it’s Pier 1 Imports.

The Texas-based home decor company announced it will shutter locations across the country, which may include some of its remaining locations here in Georgia.

The news comes around the same time that stationery store Papyrus announced it will close its two Atlanta locations.

Pier 1 has been struggling recently. Last month, it announced some closures that included Atlanta's Ansley mall and Buckhead Place.

When Ansley’s location shuttered, a sign in the window directed customers to other metro area locations, however, now those too may be in jeopardy.

"Although decisions that impact our associates are never easy, reducing the number of our brick-and-mortar locations is a necessary business decision," CEO Robert  Riesbeck said in a statement earlier this month.

The company said recently it will close up to half of its 942 stores nationwide, but it hasn’t listed the exact locations.

Patch reports that the closings include 11 of Georgia's 13 locations. The outlet says employees at the locations confirmed the closings in interviews conducted this week.

The company did not return the AJC’s request for comment.
