Pier 1 on Peachtree Road is closing on July 26

The Pier 1 store at 2298 Peachtree Rd. N.W. will close July 26. Some merchandise has been marked down by 50 percent.

The closure comes on the heels of a February announcement that the home goods retailer would attempt to renegotiate leases for 125 underperforming stores. In some cases, the chain said it might close stores, which happened on Peachtree Road. The chain also recently closed a store at Atlantic Station. The chain also has cut 10 percent of its headquarters and support staff.

Atlanta will still have nine outposts of Pier 1, which sells decorative items, tableware and furniture. Rachel Tobin Ramos
