Credit reporting agency TransUnion this week picked the head of Alpharetta-based LexisNexis Risk Solutions to be its new president and CEO.

Jim Peck, 49, will join TransUnion on Dec. 31. He succeeds Bobby Mehta, who will remain on Chicago-based TransUnion’s board.

LexisNexis is a subsidiary of Reed Elsevier, and Peck has been in charge of its risk division, which performs background checks and helps insurance firms underwrite clients, since 2004.
