Pepsi is bringing its lineup of soft drinks and water to Family Dollar, domain that used to be exclusive to Coca-Cola.

Purchase, N.Y.-based Pepsi has signed a multi-year agreement with the discount retailer to stock its 7,100 stores with Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, Aquafina and Lipton teas. Family Dollar already carries Gatorade, a Pepsi brand, as well as Frito-Lay and Quaker products, which are also part of the beverage giant's product lineup.

Atlanta-based Coke, which will continue to sell products in the stores, had no comment.

"At Family Dollar, our goal is to provide our customers with choice, value and convenience," Michael Bloom, president and chief operating officer of Family Dollar, said in a statement.

The Pepsi products will begin showing up on some Family Dollar shelves today and be in all stores by the end of May.

The tug of war between Coke and Pepsi for consumers has grown more intense in recent months as both have scored victories on the other's turf.

Papa John's Pizza announced in November that it was ending its exclusive 25-year relationship with Coca-Cola and would start serving Pepsi beverages in U.S. stores this past January.

Coke struck back earlier this month by becoming the exclusive beverage of Dunkin' Brands Group, operator of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins. The account formerly belonged to Pepsi.
