Adairsville-based NorthSide Bank has named longtime community banking veteran Larry Flowers its new president and CEO, the company said Monday.

Flowers, who started his career with Citibank, is a former executive First Liberty Bank of Georgia and banks in Minnesota and Florida. Flowers will take over from acting president Mark Swanson, who will lead the bank’s new markets and community affairs operations.

“We specifically wanted an experienced and proven CEO who understands community banking and can assist us on delivering our vision for NorthSide Bank,” bank Chairman Bobby Cox said in the release. “We wanted someone who will live in our market, work with the communities we serve, and be part of their growth.
