Norcross-based Suniva Inc., makers of alternative energy solar cells, announced Thursday a deal with a Japanese battery maker based in Roswell.

Suniva and GS Battery Inc., the American affiliate of GS Yuasa International, will jointly develop solar powered energy storage systems. The first step involves development of several commercial demonstration sites across the country. The first solar array will be built in Roswell.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
